{ blog angel wrap up }

I can't believe that October is already over.  Where did the month go?  The end of the month means that another round of Blog Angels is over.  I have to say that this wonderful series that Rosie at Craftbotic puts together is amazing.

I was Angel for the wonderful Abbey at The Makings of a Mess.  She is really wonderful everyone. What I love most about reading Abbey's blog is her writing style.  I feel like I'm listening to her tell me about her day instead of just "reading" about it. Her posts about her adventures at school are hilarious and hearing about her fun with her friends and family are fun.

I'll be hanging around Abbey's blog in the future because she's a great girl and I love her style.  See that jacket and shirt below- I need that!

I used some of my Studio Calico kit on this weeks layout.  I love the yellow and gray together.  It might be my new favorite color combination.  But it's been a slow few weeks so I went ahead and combined two together.  I got my new Ipad2!  I have been wanting this forever and I finally got it.  And I swear that every time we head to Ballet class the boys fall asleep.  Last week they fell asleep and I managed to load them up in the cart, shop and put them back in the car without them waking up.  At all.

And the weird weather we've had all year continued.  We had 80' temps all the way down to freezing rain.  All in the same week.  And my big girl got her hunting licenses too.  Now she can go out with her dad and get almost everything.  But she's more interested in collection sticks and rocks.

{ 31 days of books - the best websites for free or lending ebooks }

The Best Websites for Free & Lending eBooks

eReader IQ
eReader IQ is a free website that lets you know when your favorite books have a price drop and what books are free.  Time is limited on most of the offers so take advantage quickly.

Hundred Zeros
Hundred Zeros lists just the best-selling free books on Amazon.  It updates hourly and I find myself checking it a few (several) times a day.

Book Bub
Book Bub notifies you on free or deeply discounted books.  They only list popular books and ones from high profile publishers though.

Free Booksy
 Free Booksy is what it say- it offers a free ebook a day.  They cover multiple genres so you'll find something you like...sometimes.

Kindle Lending Library
Kindle Lending Library can only be used by people with Kindles.  Kind of a pro/con but you can lend your  books that have the lending feature to anyone with an Amazon account.

eBook Fling
eBook Fling is a website that lists books that other ebooks readers have to lend.  You can lend/borrow from anyone.  It's set up so that you earn credits for every book you lend and you can use those credits to borrow as well.  If you don't have any credits or want to lend a book, you can purchase credits instead.

Lendle
Lendle is a little more complicated.  It allows you to lend and borrow Kindle boos for free.  It works the same way as ebook fling in lending but you earn Amazon gift card when you lend.  Users pays a small credit for every book they lend and the pricee caries on book price, demand and supply of the book.  You don't receive your credit though until the loan is over.  Once you reach $10 in credits you receive a $10 Amazon gift card.  Pretty cool.

Book Lending.com
BookLending is just like ebook Fling.  I don't use this one as much because I have a harder time searching though it but wanted to include it as well.

How do you get ebooks?

i'm loving... really cool fonts

I took a typography class through Big Picture Classes last month and I'm finally getting around to going through all my lessons...and I'm hooked.  I love the style that mixing different fonts creates in my work.

i'm loving... bookmarks

For the past year or so most of my reading has been done online or through my Kindle.  But recently I found a old box of hardcovers and I've started reading though them again.  Also in the box were some of my old bookmarks.  I collected bookmarks like crazy.  The crazier the better actually.   It's nice to go back and remember where I bought one or who gave it to me.

i'm loving... all things to go with my iPad

I am loving my iPad and all the cool things that I can buy  for it.  I NEED this bathtub speaker.  I have no idea why but it's just so cool.

i'm loving... preparing for december daily

This is my first time attempting December Daily and I'm researching it like it's a final exam.  I don't want to be underprepared but I don't want to suck the fun out of it either.  It's still a month off...I can manage.

i'm loving... knit boot cuffs

I bought my first pair of knee boots this year and I feel all giddy about it.  And then I saw all the different choices of boot cuffs to go with them and I didn't know which one to get first.  I am so ready for winter.

{ 31 days of books - favorite non-fiction or humorous books }

Favorite Non-Fiction or Humorous Books

I don't read many non-fiction books. Especially the "serious" ones.  It's just not me.  Reading is my escape and I shy away from stories that are too dramatic and one that based on true life events.  But I love reading funny books.  Which is funny because comedy shows usually don't hold my attention for long.

My favorite funny books...

1. It Looked Different on the Model - the writing style is hilarious and I love how it sounds "spoken".

2. Bitter is the New Black  - anything by Jen Lancaster is my favorite but I choose this one by random and by random I mean waving my finger in the air until I landed on a cover.

3. Overheard in New York - it's just like the website.  I makes me wish I could ride the subway for just a day.

4. Confessions of a Scary Mommy - These are things I wish someone would have told me before I had children.  It makes me feel okay that sometimes I really want my kids to leave me alone.  Really, really.

5. Life As I Blow It - I usually don't like the "raunchy" humor but I make an exception for Sarah Colonna. I love her on Chelsea Lately and I'd actually watch her comedy show.

Do you have a favorite funny book?

{ 31 days of books - some of my all time favorites }

All Time Favorite Books

The 31 days of books is winding down and I wanted to share some of my all-time favorite books with you.  It's not ALL my favorites because that would be a really long post, but these are ones that stand out in my memory for what I felt when I was reading them or what happened to my favorite characters in that book.

1. Home-Ec 101 - Every woman should have this book.  A lot of the time when my husband is out of town, ok most of the time, something goes wrong.  It's pretty much a guarantee.  I flip through this book and just about every single time I can find the answer.  It's saved me a bundle in paying a handyman to do it.
2. New York to Dallas  - My second favorite In Death ever.  I always wondered what would happen when Eve found her mother.
3. Lover Awakened - Zsadist was already my favorite and the happiness he found at the end of the book literally brought me to tears.
4. Portrait in Death - My all-time In Death.  Ever.  In this book Roarke finds out what happened to his real mother and it knocks he for a huge loop.  Seeing his reactions and how he copes with it was riveting.  I literally couldn't put it down.
5. Hard and Fast - I'd read about Ty and Imogen in previous Fast Track books but seeing their relationship unfold was the epitome of romance.  He was a famous athlete but still thought of himself as a little dumb and Imogen was practically 35 years-old.
6. Homeport - I was in my early 20s when I first read this book and the idea of globe-trotting adventures and romance was at the top of my list.  The way Ryan stood up for Miranda is exactly what a man should do.
7. About That Night  - The Hero brings down Twitter for days when his ex-girlfriend dumps him in a tweet.  Seriously.
8. The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie - This is just a beautiful book.  It's the first book I've ever read where the hero was autistic.  It doesn't really say it specifically since it is historical fiction but watching the man that Ian becomes made me tear up.
9. Twilight - Having a man (vampire?) worry that much about my safety and having to deal with his moodswings would most likely drive grown up me crazy but really, it's Edward Cullen.  Edward Cullen.

Is your favorite on my list?
