{ 30 days of lists - it's almost time for registration }

A few weeks ago I posted about how I was chosen to be a 30 Days of Lists ambassador and I very excited that registration time is almost here!

What is 30 Days of Lists?

It is the brainchild of Kam of Campfire Chic and Amy of Lemon and Raspberry who know that not everyone can make a mini scrapbook every week or an art journal page every night. 30 Days of Lists is their challenge to you that you CAN journal just something every day – even something as small as a list.
Every day through the month of September 2012 there will be a list prompt – anything from weekend goals to celebrity crushes. At the end of the 30 days you’ll have a collection of entries creating a small snapshot of your life right now.

1. I love making lists!  And it's a good thing too since I need to keep track of 3 children, 1 husband, and my own life (when I get the chance).
2. I like journaling.  30 List is great for taking a few minutes out of your day to jot down your thoughts on something.
3. I love pretty paper.  Love it!  Some people collect shoes or knickknacks, I collect pretty paper and journals.  Grocery shopping isn't so bad when your list is on pretty pink paper!

What Do I Do?

Pre-registrations opens tomorrow, August 1 and runs through August 14.  Sign up for the newsletter here to make sure you don't miss out.  The first 100 Listers are entered to win a Freckled Fawn ohDEERme kit and anyone who registers during pre-registration will also be eligible to win a three book set from Keri Smith!

Any questions?  Check out the FAQ's or send me a email and I'd be glad to help you out!

You can also stop by my fellow ambassadors Kristin, Angie, and Kristin (and me) to see how they are preparing for 30 Lists.

{ project life - free printable vintage postcard tags and weekday tabs }

It's almost the end of July.  How can it seem that summer is dragging yet almost over at the same time?  Our local schools do not begin until after Labor Day but I know many start very soon.  We've just started getting our Back to School lists together and scoping out clothing sales.

I've been working on my July Project Life and I'm looking forward to fall when I'll go back to weekly layouts.  But in the meantime I have more downloadable files for you!

First up is Days of the Week Tags.  The file contains individual PNG files and a printable sheet with all seven tags.

And Second is a set of Vintage Postcard Tags.  Same as above, each file contains a individual file and printable sheet with all six tags.

Is there any special printable you'd like to see?  I love taking requests!

{ the simple things }

I don't know where it came from or why I've never seen it before, but this little gem popped up next to the back porch this weekend.

I needed a little sunshine this week.

Summer Olympics 2012

The Summer Olympics begin tomorrow and I am so excited.  I have my little schedule all printed out and my DVR set to record what I won't be able to watch.  It's also set to record what I can watch because I'm sure I'll miss something anyway.  My favorite sport to watch is swimming with gymnastics and beach volleyball close behind and when did trampoline become a sport?

I'm excited and the kiddos are excited too.  The bigs are old enough now to understand the spirit of competition and sportsmanship among each other.  They also like any craft that I show them too.  On schedule for this week are the paper plate rings and (if the weather cooperates) the Olympic Ring cookies.  Our torches are ready to go and color pages have been printed.  They have their ideas of what they want to watch with me and hopefully they will find someone to root for.

{ bloggy book club week 6 - fifty shades of grey }

It's all she wrote folks.  The last week of Fifty Shades of Grey is upon us and I'm a little sad.  It's the first time that I've really dived into a book discussion online and the first time that I've ever discussed a book of this nature.  I've had the greatest time and I look forward to the next book "Fallen" by Lauren Kate.  I mentioned last week that's it's a little out of my normal reading style but change is good.  And if it's not good you'll hear about it too.

The last weeks questions...

1. How would you sum up this novel?

I would sum it up as way outside the box.  It runs circles around the box.  I've read other erotic fiction and stories that delved into the BDSM category but this was on a whole different level.  I'm pretty sure it's the first of its kind to hit the mainstream the way it has and the content shocked a lot of people.  The story I believe, it meant to be about Christian and Ana and how love can change a person.  The BDSM is the twist that we haven't really read too often in the Bad Boy/Good Girl tale and is what draws us in.  It's a glimpse inside something that most of us will never see and won't admit that we want to.

2. How did you feel about the end of this novel?

First thought- thank gosh there are sequels.  I'm not used to cliffhangers in books and Fifty Shades of Grey leaves off at a doozy.  We spend the whole book becoming invested in these characters and at the first time things get "real" for Ana, well she takes off.  I've never wanted to thunk a character in head as much as I wanted to to Ana at that point.  She does redeem herself in the later books and becomes the partner that Christian needs but at the end of this book I feel like her inexperience shown through and she bit off more than she could chew.  I also believe that Christian pushed Ana past what she could handle and paid the consequences for it.  The end left me wanting more (although I had already read the entire series long ago when it was fanfiction) and thankful that I only had to wait a moment for the next book to download to my Kindle.

On a final note, like all big things people talk about, they are making a Fifty Shades of Grey movie.  The first time I read through the books I did picture Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as Christian and Ana since it was fanfiction but now I kinda see Elizabeth Olson as Ana and (if there is any luck) Ian Somerhalder as Christian.

Who do you picture as Christian and Ana?

Can you stand one more complaint about the heat?  It was so hot and humid this week that I didn't take the kids to the local fair this year.  The day all the kids activities were scheduled is was 102' and I just couldn't imagine being out the blazing sun and humidity diving in sawdust for pennies.  We have some very clever games I tell ya.

So we spent a lot of the week inside.  In front of the air conditioner.  I've spent so much time with the AC this summer I could call it my best friend.  Heaven help me if it broke because all the local stores are sold out of units in all sizes.  But anyway, we spent a lot of time inside.  The kids played with playdoh, games, and annoyed each other.

I made these.  I love rainbow colors and it drives me crazy when I like a card but the color is wrong for my layout so here is a rainbow of colors for you.  Below is a pretty shabby chic polka dot card set.  I am in love with polka dots right now.  Please download and enjoy!

{ the simple things }

We took a drive through the back roads this weekend.  It's something we do once in awhile and because the air conditioning in the car is a lot cooler than the air in the house.  There's no map and my husband knows his way around so I don't worry about getting lost.  If it was me alone I'd need a GPS and a map.  And my phone to call when I got lost anyway.

Husband is great at stopping along the side of the road so I can get out and take pictures of whatever catches my eye.  He does a lot of driving for work and makes a note of things that would catch my eye in his travels.

I took lots and lots of pictures this trip and narrowed it down to my top three... right now.

{ this week in instagram }

It was hot and we had rain!  Lots and lots of rain and thunder and lighting- the whole shebang.  It in turn made the grass (a little) green again.  I really don't like crunchy grass.  And after the rain came the sun.  My one and only sunflower bloomed this week too.

I also spent a lot of time reading and listening to music this week.  When it gets really humid I lose all ambition to do anything really.  And don't you like our fish?  I think it's a little creepy but I don't have to clean the tank either, so win.  Doesn't Squidward's house look appalled?

{ current crush... camera jewelry }

Current Crush Thursdays

currently crushing on... camera jewelry

I love photography.  Love it.  And I love jewelry that expresses what I love.

Ya know how you buy your Grandpa something to do with golf for his birthday, Father's Day, and Christmas because you know he likes it and you don't know what else to get him?  Yeah that's me a camera jewelry.

The only thing I have below is the camera phone case but I do have other pieces that family and friends have bought me over the years.  A lot of them are very dainty and hand crafted and that makes them all the more unique to me.

And my Grandpa wasn't a fan of golf but he did like cardinals.  Do you know how many porcelain cardinals you can buy out there?  A lot!

I think my favorite is the ring.  I don't have a camera ring yet.  I also think I need to remind my husband my birthday is coming up.  In November.
