I've done posts about what I like and my scrapbooking. I've done a few printables and top ten lists. I've never really wrote about ME though. When I saw Megan at Shaping Up To Be A Mom's "A Look Back" link-up I was inspired. I'm taking the plunge.
The year is 1984 and since my birthday isn't until November I was pretty much 4 years-old that year.
Love my Easter dress?
In 1984 the first Apple MacIntosh went on sale as well as the first cd player. I didn't get my cd player until many years and several Walkmans later...anyway. It was also the first year of the MTV Video Music Awards. I never wanted them until well after the grunge era was over. And the fact that my grandparents thought MTV was a channel only bad kids watched. That's another years story though.
My very first vacation and my favorite picture ever.
It was also the first year I ever got to go on "vacation". Beginning that year and all the way until my Grandpa passed in 2000, I went with my grandparents to Mackinaw City. It was my favorite time of the year. It's changed a lot over the years but it still has that special feeling inside for me. Above is a picture of my very first boat ride. They told me boat ride but it looked like the Titanic to me. What I don't have a picture of is the end of the boat ride where it was down pouring rain and my Grandpa turned a garbage bag he "borrowed" from the deck attendant into poncho for me by cutting out a small hole to stick my face out so I didn't suffocate.
My favorite food.
One of my favorite foods to this day is spaghetti. Children eating spaghetti is never neat. I'm pretty sure more made it on me than in my stomach. On a side note I use those very same dishes today. A few pieces are missing but my munchkins eat off the same plates that I did as a kid. I like knowing that.
Merry Christmas to me!
With my birthday a month before Christmas I usually got "smaller" presents for my birthday and the "bigger" present on Christmas Day. I present my "bigger" gift that year - the Barbie Dreamhouse. It made my whole year and the next one too. I LOVED Barbie as a little girl. I still collect the Christmas Edition Barbies as a grown up.
Life is a lot different for 4 year-old's now than it was for me in 1984 but some things stay the same.
How was your 1984?
